Dear members,

Even though it has been 21 months since the horrific devastation of the attack on America at the World Trade Center, I still am deeply distressed coping with memories of that day and its’ aftermath. This pain is being exacerbated by your plans for the WTC Memorial.

It is my understanding that the redevelopment leaders are moving forward at a rapid pace to design and build a bus garage, retail stores and perhaps even a hamburger stand 60 feet below ground within the “bathtub” area of the site.

As you know, the bathtub area is the location of the footprints of the North and South Towers, which extend down to bedrock, and is where the majority of our loved ones remains were recovered. This is their final resting place and is in the true essence of the word, a cemetery- period. I know of no such cemetery where one would go to and board a bus, buy souvenirs and munch on a hamburger all at the same time.

Therefore I implore you and emphatically state, that the bathtub area must be preserved in its’ entirety, sixty feet down to bedrock, so that the unidentified remains of those murdered can be respectfully interred at the site.

It’s important to note that I do not oppose these transportation and commercial elements provided they are located outside the bath tub area. It is my hope that my voice is heard by your administration and my reasonable requests are respected and adhered to regarding any development of that sacred and hallowed space.
